Also known as "Ukama" or "Loving Family," this Shona stone sculpture depicts a mother and child merging into a single form the unity of spirit between the two made visible in stone. Hand-carved by artist Sidley Patala in Zimbabwe using the Shona tradition of simple chisels, sand and beeswax polish, and fire-finishing.
