Kuba Cloth Rectangular Pillow Cover Raffia Weave, DR Congo

Woven from raffia fibers with hand-applied braided knot appliqués, Kuba cloth is a traditional textile of the Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo originally made as ceremonial skirt fabric, its geometric patterns varying by occasion and the rank of the wearer. Each cloth is entirely unique: the natural beige of undyed raffia shifts to reddish and brown tones depending on the dye used. No two are alike, and all are beautiful. A square version is also available.
